The research interests are related to metrology, digital signal processing for measurement applications, definition and measurement of electric power components under non-sinusoidal conditions, measurement uncertainty evaluation and expression.

Activiteit: Full Professor of Electrical and Electronic Measurement at Politecnico di Milano University in Milan, Italy. He was the President of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society from 2008 to 2019. He was the Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement from 2012 to 2016. He has been a member of the Administrative Committee of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society since 2000.

Prijzen: IEEE Fellow, 1999 IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award in Instrumentation and Measurement, 2006 Doctor Honoris Causa from the Politechnic University of Bucarest, Romania, 2014 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Distinguished Service Award, 2014
