Hoogleraar Systematische botanie, gespecialiseerd in de classificatie en evolutie van de angiospermen of bloemplanten, waarbij de bepaling van goede kenmerken voor de afbakening van taxa binnen de bloemplanten centraal staat. Morfologisch, moleculair en evolutionair ontwikkelingsonderzoek (evo-devo) worden hiervoor geïntegreerd.
